Paris - Est

In twenty-nine minutes the "O-E" will depart the Gare de l'Est bound for Constantinople. None of the passengers gathering on the platform in Paris can imagine that the assassination in Bosnia that morning will change their lives.

Even though it is a Sunday evening, the blonde midinette from a renowned Maison de Couture has willingly volunteered to deliver the lingerie ordered by the Marchioness of Northampton to her ladyship on the platform at the Gare de l’Est. Such a gesture helps to advance a career in ”le monde de la mode”. Should the day come when the young woman opens her own salon, her familiarity with ”Her Ladyship” will attract many clients.

Beside that scene stands the Grand Duchess Olga, sister of Tsar Nicholas II, arranging accommodation for her suite with the Chef de Train and the Conducteur of the ”Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits et des Grands Express Europēen”.

The “Sarajevo 1914 Collection”, begun in 1979, has been and continues to be assembled
